While COVID-19 is having an enormous impact on the events, meetings, tourism and hospitality industries, many higher education instructors are faced with the difficult task of suddenly transitioning their on-ground courses online. In addition to technical challenges, instructors are also having to recreate lesson plans, learning activities and assessments which would have otherwise been delivered in an interactive and experiential way. Industry guest speakers may no longer be available and some students are losing confidence in their chosen field due to global events.

This webinar will explore ways to transition your course online, as well as modifying lessons and assessments from physical to digital while continuing to provide students with rich learning opportunities and keeping them motivated and engaged.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Explore common challenges instructors face transitioning an on-ground class to fully online
  • Review ideas for lesson delivery and activities specifically in events & hospitality programs
  • Discuss alternatives to physical delivery of assessments such as event projects and presentations
  • Addressing some of the challenges, emotions and doubts that students are currently experiencing to keep them motivated and engaged in learning and the industry
